Scenographer and Architect. He made his debut as scenography assistant to José Manuel Castanheira. He is a founding member of APCEN - Associação Portuguesa de Cenografia. He is a Collaborator of Teatro O Bando and was part of the Artistic Direction between 2003 and 2024.

Bio

Scenographer and Architect. He made his debut as scenography assistant to José Manuel Castanheira. He is a founding member of APCEN - Associação Portuguesa de Cenografia. He is a Collaborator of Teatro O Bando and was part of the Artistic Direction between 2003 and 2024.

Since 1989, he has traversed the Free Territories of Architecture and Scenography as a creator of Space for everyday life, Television, Cinema, and Theatre. He is co-author of the Architecture Project for the Museu do Oriente with Carrilho da Graça (Best Portuguese Museum award, 2009).

Author of multiple scenographic spaces for cinema, entertainment, and television fiction, notably Depois do Adeus (Patrícia Sequeira); Ana Moura concerts at the Coliseus - 2017; Prémios PLAY da Música Portuguesa; and the documentary Quem vai a Guerra (Marta Pessoa). He has created, with twenty directors, more than eighty scenographies for theatre, with various nominations and awards, notably: A Morte do Corvo, Immersive Theatre; O Crucificado, Útero/Teatro O Bando (Prémio Autores SPA 2010); and Inferno, Teatro O Bando (Prémio Autores SPA 2018). Co-author with João Brites of the Portuguese Representation at the Prague Quadrennial 2011. He organised and participated, on behalf of APCEN, in the Prague Quadrennial 2015 with Clara Bento and João Brites with the intervention "Onde está o meu País?" (Where is my Country?). He is Commissioner and coordinator of the exhibition CASTANHEIRA RETROSPECTIVA 1973/2025 at the Centro de Cultura Contemporânea de Castelo Branco.
