The VII National Scenography Meeting took place on 11 and 12 December 2015 at the Teatro Experimental in Cascais. Under the motto "ID (ENTITY) BOX," the event served as a space for deep reflection on contemporary scenographic practice, focusing particularly on the assessment of Portuguese participation in the 2015 Prague Quadrennial and on the challenge of thinking about scenography "outside the box."
The programme began at the Espaço Memória TEC, with the official opening and catalogue launch. The evening also included a visit to a retrospective exhibition celebrating 50 years of scenography and costume design at TEC, concluding with the screening of synchronised videos documenting Portugal's presence in Prague.
Saturday was dedicated to conferences and theoretical debates at the Teatro Experimental de Cascais. The international highlight was the presence of Eero Epner, winner of the Golden Triga at PQ2015 with the Estonian project "Unified Estonia," who shared his vision of political and performative scenography. The afternoon featured a presentation by Sara Franqueira on the relationship between text and space, culminating in a debate moderated by José Manuel Castanheira entitled "Scenography without Theatre?". This panel discussed the new frontiers of the profession and the concerns that arose after encountering the international trends of 2015. The meeting concluded with the APCEN General Assembly and an outing to the theatre to attend the play Macbeth.
