To look is the beginning of a relationship with space — to look is to observe in order to, later, inhabit a place. We jot down an idea on paper; the idea is born from a restlessness, a space from a vision, and scenography from a will.
"OLHAR: Notas sobre a Cenografia" [The Gaze: Notes on Scenography] proposes an attentive listening to the journey of José Manuel Castanheira and, through him, a gaze upon scenographic practice in its multiple layers. We invite each visitor to freely annotate what they observe, creating a bridge between individual perception and the language of scenography, between what is shown and what is lived. This will be a moment of collective sharing and reflection, in which scenography ceases to be merely an object of contemplation and becomes a matter of thought — where word and line reveal new imaginaries.
The conversation, moderated by APCEN, with the presence of the author José Manuel Castanheira and the curator Rui Francisco, will depart from the notes collected at the end of the exhibition tour.
