Aurora dos Campos

Cenógrafa e Artista visual

A set designer and visual artist from Rio de Janeiro, she explores the relationships between space, fiction, memory and everyday life. Her visual works engage with her theatrical perspective. In theatre, she collaborates with companies and creators such as Cia. Hotel Europa (PT), Foguetes Maravilha, Cia dos Atores, Coletivo Improviso, Cia. Atores de Laura, and with creators Alex Cassal, Cristina Moura, Diogo Liberano, Daniele Ávila Small, Enrique Diaz, Felipe Vidal, Georgette Fadel, Guilherme Leme Garcia, Inêz Viana, Isabel Cavalcanti, Marco André Nunes, Pedro Brício, Sérgio Módena and Vinícius Arneiro. For her set designs, she received the Cesgranrio Award for *Tom na Fazenda* in 2017; the Shell, Cesgranrio and Questão de Crítica Awards for *Conselho de Classe*, by Cia. dos Atores, in 2013; and the APTR Award for *Breu*, by Pedro Brício, in 2012. She holds a degree in Set Design from UNIRIO, a Master’s in Art and Design for Public Space with the thesis “Dramaturgies of the everyday: speculations on the fictional dimension of reality”; and holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto with the research project “Fictionalising matter ∩ materialising fiction: the artistic practice of a set designer” under an FCT grant. She is a member of the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS); she was director of the Portuguese Association of Set Design (2020–2022) and is a member of the Grafias da Cena Brasil Association.
